This course is for care staff of all levels who would like to gain a better understanding of diabetes and medications
 
This course is presented by Sylvia Wilson, a qualified Pharmacist and trainer with over 15 years experience.

  • Development of diabetes and the normal blood glucose range
  • Signs and symptoms of diabetes and the difference between type 1 and type 2
  • Complications associated with diabetes and the necessary routine checks
  • Diabetes medication including insulin
  • Principles of individualised healthy eating plans
  • Importance of good foot care
  • Identify hypoglycaemia and give appropriate emergency treatment
  • Hyperglycaemia and the importance of timely reporting of concerns
  • Observe and report any concerns that may affect the ability to self-care
